Join Trash to Treasure at the Fort Lauderdale Irish Fest, March 10

Join Trash to Treasure at the Fort Lauderdale Irish Fest this Saturday March 10.  We will have a kids craft booth from 1-6:30.  We will be in front of the Museum of Modern Art on Las Olas.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:  We are expecting a big crowd and are looking for volunteers.  If you are planning to attend, how about taking an hour or two to help out with our kids crafts.  This is a great opportunity for students looking for community hours too.

Contact Casey  if you are interested or want more information.

Repurpose materials into a bulletin board

Don't buy a bulletin board at Office Depot or Wal-Mart. You can make your own with this quick and easy project.
All you need is: a flat piece of styrofoam, cardboard as a support, fabric to decorate, and something to hold it all together. I used several methods for the boards in the photo: glue, packing tape, staples, or a combination of methods. You can add details like the pockets (from a donated pair of shorts) or cris-crossing ribbons to hold items in place. Since it is so light weight, it doesn't take much to hold it up on a wall.
The best thing about this project is that you can customize the size to fit your needs.

CityLink Boca Beerfest, March 2, 2012, Mizner Park

Is it that time again?  Yes, the CityLink Beerfest invades Boca Raton and Mizner Park.  Same game, same fun.  OK, so no Drunk Santa and his helpers.  But still, beer, great music, and more.

Trash to Treasure is the charity that benefits from the event.  We coordinate the recycling which results in  90% of the waste diverted by weight.  We collect cardboard, aluminum cans, glass bottles, ice bags, sample cups, bottle caps, plastic bottles and wine corks.

This time the sample cups will be recycled through Broward College's TerraCycle Program.  Money from the program funds an Environmental Science scholarship.  Also, thanks to our other recycling partners SWS and Edge Recycling.

CityLink has the only GREEN Beerfest in South Florida.

Thanks to our volunteers, who do work very hard for beer, for their awesome efforts.  Here is an example:

Volunteers Needed for Trash2Art in August 2012

Trash 2ART 2012 is scheduled for Aug 13 thru Sept 7. As an all volunteer grassroots organization, Trash to Treasure is calling on your direct support in the planning this year.

We are creating a Sponsorship committee that will be tasked with raising the $1000 needed to hold this event each year. We are inviting at least 10 members and friends to volunteer to sit on this committee and take on the challenge of committing to raising $100 each through various sources.

This will be the 4th year of this enormously popular event. As a group, we represent a huge network of contacts that extends beyond the board volunteers of Trash to Treasure, and we want to engage this network in order to reach out to a larger part of the community.

Your sole job on the committee will be to help get funding to put on the event. By assembling this committee by March 1, members will have 6 months to each find a mere $100 for Trash 2ART.

PLEASE contact us asap if you are willing to serve on this committee and help bring Trash 2ART 2012 to the community again.

Thanks
