Trash to Treasure is joining with many great South Florida organizations for Day of the Dead Events throughout October.  Trash to Treasure is proud that many of the materials for puppets, sets, and more.  We will be at the processional on Oct 30 with a kids craft booth and we'll join in the parade.

 Get Acquainted with Fat Village and the Day of the Dead!
Fort Lauderdale will be immersed in this traditional time of celebration and remembrance on Saturday October 30th & Tuesday November 2nd for Dia de los Muertos or Day of the Dead. The brainchild of founder of FAT Village ARTS District Doug McCraw, Art Curator Susan Hopper and Artist & Puppet Master Jim Hammond, the streets will be filled with skeletons, art, music, theatre and giant puppets paying homage to the ancient Day of the Dead tradition. Revelers will experience Day of the Dead Exhibition curated by Susan Hopper, Traditional Community Altars,  a Skeleton MAsk & Puppet Processional, Museum of Art Family Day, “Thriller” Dance Team, Classic Halloween Movies Outside, Open Artist Studios, Theatres, Galleries, Live Music and more!

(2 pm) DAY OF THE DEAD GIANT PUPPET MAKING WORKSHOPS – Families (ages 10 plus) work with puppeteers to create Day of the Dead styled props and puppets. Performance Workshop for the processional participants on OCT 28th at 7 pm.  FREE. RSVP: jim@puppet-network.com

Create your favorite skeleton, Mexican themed costume or Day of the Dead Character for a 7 Block Processional through Fort Lauderdale – Meet at 4:45 at the Museum of Art.  5:15 Start.  Get there early for the Museum of Art Family Day activities, crafts by Trash to Treasure, and a Latin Art Exhibition including Frida Kahlo & Diego Rivera.  Costume & Creature Prizes after the Processional!  FREE .
