Trash 2
Treasure FL boarding party of at least 15 pirates (volunteers) needed on
Friday, May 9th, at FAU University Theatre in Boca Raton to
participate in an event gets international exposure. The organizers are expecting at least 500
attendees. To get more information on
the event itself, please see the link to the event’s website: www.tedxbocaraton.com/about/.
We'll have to
setup the night before and early in the A.M. There is free parking for TEDx Boca Raton
guests. (There should be parking
signs.) Breakfast starts at 8:00 a.m. I believe (may
be sooner) and we won't finish up until after 7 p.m. If you can't be there for
the whole day, but can come for "shift" that's OK, too.
We need help
that day during the day-long event. We will be handling all the trash
during the day, and operating as the Trash Brigade (Trash Talkers) and directing
people to the appropriate bins. We'll be composting veggie scraps for Johnny
Yuen's (long-time T2T Volunteer/Board member) Mission Green program and
collecting for TerraCycle, too. We'll also be making a large sign out of trash
materials and inviting participants to add their "trash" to the sign.
Also, if you
know of anyone else who might be interested in participating, please let Nanette
Saylor, Executive Director, know so she can reach out to them ASAP. You
can reach Nanette at 561-504-1078 or Nanette@trash2treasurefl.org. Please put “Volunteer TEDx” in the subject line. As always, if you need community service hours, please bring your paperwork
to the event so that we can sign off on your hours.
