All Hands on Deck Update 4/25/16

We had a great experience this week.

We started on the second side of the boat.

A very special THANK YOU to our product sponsor:  Flex Seal

We are using Flex Seal products for various aspects of the project.  Flex Seal comes in various colors and our artist Susie Q is using it for the background colors to visually enhance the plastic debris that was collected during beach cleanups. The trash is being used on the boat to repurpose our Cuban refugee boat into a work of art.

To affix the plastic to the boat, we are using Flex Shot

Flex Seal is excited about our project.  So much, that they came out to film for a future commercial.

Casey talks about the benefits of Flex Seal Products

We had lots of help thanks to Girl Scouts of South Florida including Troops 10317 and 11110.

The Girls Scouts also learned about managing Storm Water to avoid pollution

We also started on the back of the boat and the spelling out of All Hands on Deck.

All Hands on Deck-Update 4/6/16

Here is an update on our project so far:

Our boat was found in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea and removed by one of our sponsors Sal's Towing and brought to one of their storage locations.  Our Board Member, Keith Haag, found it and Sal's agreed to tow it to ArtsBunker.

Cuban Refugee Boat Made of Scrap Wood

The engine was removed prior to moving to ArtsBunker

Once at ArtsBunker, the transformation begins.  Our artist, Susie Q Wood, designed the concept.  The coloring of the boat is done by using Flex Seal.  The boat is then adorned with plastic debris from beach clean ups.

Ocean Trash from Beach Cleanups is being used to Decorate over the Flex Seal

We need more hands to help us with the project.  Check out the flyer below.  We are at ArtsBunker every Saturday morning.  Come out and join us.  Call or email to let us know you are joining us.
