TINY TREASURES~ A Great Green Holiday Idea!
Need a stocking stuffer? A clever gift? A gift that teaches, is fun, but is inexpensive? Check out T2T's latest brainchild, TINY TREASURES.
Designed to stimulate imaginative play while teaching the value of resources and appreciating what is in our “own backyard”, Tiny Treasures also helps parents and educators discover simple ways to support excellent skill development and environmental awareness in kids.
From the tiniest piece of scrap ribbon to rethinking play with recognizable toy pieces, Tiny Treasures ideally engages kids ages 5 to 12 years. Make a 3-d picture, a mobile, build a bridge, a tower, a mini world, explore textures and colors together, or make up your own story. Adults can use TINY TRESURES to play and teach younger children basic shapes, colors, contrasts ~ light/dark, rough/smooth , hard/soft etc.~ , sorting, and storytelling.
Each treasure tube is unique and comes with a parent guide. Kits challenge kids to create without scissors and glue helping to develop problem-solving skills. Or go ahead and add scissors, glue, colors and create a more permanent masterpiece. Just remind your young Picasso/O’Keefe/Einstein to look in the world around them for new “scappy” treasures to add to their tube.
You will want to play along, but hey, remember to give the kid some space…at these prices, you can buy your own tube!
1 Tube $3
3 or more, $2 each
Caution! May contain small pieces, please chose age appropriate Tubes and use adult supervision when necessary.
ALSO check out CD&Marbles Spinning Tops….just $1! You have never seen a top spin so long and gracefully.

Trash to Treasure Teams with Haiti Orphanage to Provide Supplies
Recently, Trash to Treasure teamed up with the Renmen Foundation to get much needed supplies to Haiti. A total of 1000 pounds of material from T2T went to vital projects in the distressed nation.
Much of the weight was for tile to be placed on a floor at Renmen's orphanage. We also sent various medical and everyday supplies.
Watch the video to see what a difference we can make in the world with everyday discards.

City Link Beerfest 2010, December 3, Huizenga Plaza 6 -11
For the third year in a row, Trash to Treasure is teaming up with CityLink for Beerfest on December 3 at Huizenga Plaza in Downtown Fort Lauderdale from 6-11.
Trash to Treasure has once again be chosen as the nonprofit beneficiary of the event.
Since the event generates large amounts of recyclable material, T2T works with CityLink to facilitate recycling. T2T volunteers collect bottles, cardboard, bottle caps, and wine corks from the event vendors. Recycling containers are put out to collect the plastic sample cups.
SWS will recycle the cardboard and bottles. Edge Logistics will recycle the sample cups. Trash to Treasure will collect bottle caps and wine corks for reuse.
Last year, we diverted 80% of the waste from the event.
T2T and drunk Santa hope to see you there.

Green Halloween 2010
We know that over-consumption is reeeeeallly scary....so it may seem appropriate to go to a big box store and buy cheaply made costumes from China that you can throw away after one use.
But, the truth of the matter is Halloween is supposed to be fake scary, not real scary. For example, people dress up as Zombies and Goblins, they don't really become them.
Come visit Trash to Treasure to Green Your Halloween. Green Halloween means making your Halloween a more environmentally friendly holiday. Buying used eliminates all the waste(raw materials, water, and energy) that goes into the production and transportation of new goods. At Trash to Treasure we have tons of amazing Halloween supplies including makeup still in its packaging. We can help you with costume ideas too! Get all of your costume materials at T2T and make this Halloween a green one!Day of the Dead Events

Message from Trash to Treasure: Still Going Strong
Many of you have expressed concern about Trash to Treasure with the closing of the thrift store.
While the thrift store did not generate the levels of income that we had hoped, we actually made money on the venture.
Trash to Treasure's Board is looking for ways to reach the next level of sustainability. We are exploring multiple options. Nothing ventured nothing gained.
We remain extremely solvent and we are here to stay. We continue to partner with major organizations to raise funds and promote reduce, reuse, recycle. As most of you know we recently teamed with Whole Foods Fort Lauderdale and their 5% day. Our Trash2Art event was our most successful yet. We are involved with a matching grant fund-raising campaign with Jack Johnson's Ohana Foundation. Once again this year, we will team up the the Tribune Company for the CityLink Beerfest.
There has never been a better time to become a member of Trash to Treasure. Memberships play an important role in our success. About half of our income is derived from them. Please spread the word about our organization.
Thanks for your concern and support.

Wire You Waiting?
You have a box or bag or wires hidden in the closet from long retired phones, computers, and other electronics. Sure you have been holding on to them thinking they will come in handy some day. But you don't even know an Ethernet from a USB, so what should you do?
We have always taken these wires at Trash to Treasure. But now we are aggressively pursuing them so that we can take advantage of the strong market for copper.
Recycling provides many economic opportunities to the United States. In the case of scrap copper, much of it is exported to China. This reduces our trade deficit and returns to the US some of the money transferred to China from purchasing items made there. The recycling process also provides jobs in the US as it goes from loose materials to a processed, bailed, exportable product.
The availability of scrap copper also reduces the need to import scrap copper primarily from Canada.
Also, the recycling process reduces pollution and environmental degredation. The copper industry supports it.
So by bringing in those stray cords you can:
Please cut off the large plugs. Small plugs are OK.
